Pep rally

The pep rally held on December 4th was arranged in order to promote the winter sport teams at Miami Beach Senior High. The heart-pounding beat of the drum line welcomed all the students to the ceremony. The former Sparkling Rubies came to this pep rally known as Body and Soul dancers followed with seven dancers performing a brand new routine that “wowed” the crowd as said by Freshman Andres Corrales.               M.C. Tatiana Ross explains, “It’s now the winter season and we’re here to cheer them on.” The packed auditorium of enthusiastic students, chanting and cheering for their class, forced late-comers to sit on the floor. Ross adds, “These are the better-w inning sports. The soccer team has a score of 6-0, that’s district. Our girls soccer team is 5-3. They are unbelievable.”  Beach High’s winter sports include: Boys Varsity Basketball, Girls Junior Varsity Basketball, Wrestling, Girls Soccer and Boys Soccer.            The sports teams came out, one by one; Boys Varsity Basketball, Girls Junior Varsity Basketball, Wrestling, Girls Soccer and Boys Soccer, all accompanied with the rumbling clatter of fervent students, many sporting the scarlet and silver colors of Beach High. A little “class rivalry” broke out when the Freshman started chanting louder than the Seniors. Not that Tatiana Ross would let them get away with it. “I’m disappointed with you Seniors!” she yelled.  The cheerleaders finished off the ceremony chanting “M-B-H-S” and as described by Sophomore Francisco “Hunter” Becerra, they were “awesome.”             The winter sport pep rally was cut short due to time constraints. “Our program was set to start at 1:15, but the announcement didn’t get made until at least 1:30, 1:45, so as all the performers were performing, everyone started coming in,” clarified MC Ross. She goes on to say that everyone came in towards the end, “that’s why it was a disaster.”
